Snowfall in Herisau

The weather is turning colder, and we've had a little bit of snow in the mountains.

Train Arriving

The trains here are incredible. Not only are they on time, but they are smooth and quiet! (I'm referring to a certain type).  I love to hear them come creeping into the station!
Last week I was walking home in the rain, and the freshly fallen leaves were so deep, and piled everywhere, just like a snowfall!  It was gorgeous!

Il Divo - Amazing Grace

I'm not sure how to post this video clip other than to just share the link with you.  This is a beautiful rendition of "Amazing Grace".

This is Magenbrot in the grocery store.  It is a special morsel that is sold during October here in Switzerland. It's in the bakery department, or sold from booths outside, or at the local fairground during OLMA.  It's a lemony, orangy, spicy cookie bread. I love that it is packaged in pink, everywhere it is sold! You can spot it a mile away!  Isn't it so cute?

Battleship played with human targets. This is the strategic battleship configuration of Team "A"

Battleship

This was a really fun activity at the Center.  At the end, everyone posed for a group configuration of a Battleship

Katamaran

Norwin and I finally had time to go on a little "outing" for our 42nd Wedding Anniversary.  We traveled across the Bodensee by Ferry, to Friedrichshafen, where we visited the Zeppelin Museum and then we took a Katamaran back across to Konstanz where we ate lunch, browsed along a few streets, and then came home on the train.  We were pretty tired, but it was a beautiful sunny October day.

The taste test

Norwin was first to dip into the fondue!

Fondue

We enjoyed our first authentic Swiss-made Fondue made from Racklette, Gruyere and Appenzeller Cheese. Man-oh-man was it ever delicious! Silvia Keller made it for us and she is a fantastic hostess!

Beautiful Salad

Silvia Keller - angel of the St.Gallen ward - prepared a beautiful dinner for us. It was so lovely, I took pictures of it. She put saran over the salad to keep it fresh! Silvia left this morning for America where she will attend General Conference and then visit friends in St.George, Boston and Atlanta. She will also travel to Nauvoo this trip. She'll be away for the entire month of October so we'll be missing her this month.

It was a beautiful sunny day

A visit to the Swiss Temple in Zollikofen (near Bern)

Play Area near our apartment

There are some cozy little play areas around and about. This one is back behind our apartment and we didn't notice it until about 2 weeks ago, we headed off in a different direction than usual.

This sweet little playground is nestled in among trees, a main road, and an access road. It makes me happy every time I walk past it! So cute, istn't it? Wouldn't the kids have fun in a little spot like this?
