Norwin and I traveled to Freuenfeld for a Relief Society Enrichment Day, and straignt-away we were greeted by Sister Karen Mast. She introduced us to her daughter, Stephanie, to translate for me. Later when we asked Stephanie why she spoke such good English, she said that her mother was from America. When we spoke with Karen, we learned that she grew up in New Mexico, but that her brother had lived in Washington State. So Norwin asked what her maiden name was, and when she said "Dunford", he couldn't believe it! Karen Mast was at the Dunford Family Reunion in Bear Lake, Idaho in 1999 and her grandfather is George Osmond Dunford, Grandma's Uncle Oz!!! So Norwin and Karen Mast are second cousins! It was the highlight of our day!
You guys look great - just like the senior couple missionaries we used to have on our mission! Fun story about the Dunford connection - I passed it on to Reeds, Ottons, etc...

ReplyDeleteJust goes to show what a small world we live in. Finding a cousin to greet you in your new adventure! I look at it as one of the tender mercies sent our way to let us know how much Heavenly Father loves us....sort of a hug from afar!
